Syrians attack US Embassy

Not that it surprises me much, as Syrians have already been caught funding and training terrorists in Iraq, but Syrian terrorists attacked the US Embassy in Damascus. Luckily however, they were unsuccessful and all but one of them were killed in a shootout with Syrian police.

3 Killed outside U.S. Embassy in Syria

Gunmen apparently blew up a car outside the U.S. Embassy and exchanged fire with Syrian guards on Tuesday in a brazen attack on Damascus' diplomatic neighborhood. Syrian security forces killed three of the attackers, the government said.

The Interior Ministry, which is in charge of police, said a fourth assailant was wounded in what it called a "terrorist attack." The report, carried on state-run television, said an investigation was under way.

In Washington, a State Department spokesman confirmed the attack on the American Embassy by "unknown assailants" and said the event appears to be over.

"Local authorities have responded and are on the scene," spokesman Kurtis Cooper said. He said he had no further information.

A Syrian who works at the U.S. Embassy said there were no American casualties.
