Why is CREW ignoring THIS story?
BY GREGOR

Via the Associated Press:

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid has been using campaign donations instead of his personal money to pay Christmas bonuses for the support staff at the Ritz-Carlton where he lives in an upscale condominium. Federal election law bars candidates from converting political donations for personal use.

CREW claims that they are "Citizens for responsibility and ethics in Washington" but they fail to cover any corruption on the liberal side of our government. Click here to ask them why.

Brave Soldier Sacrifices His Life
BY STEVE

Navy SEAL, Michael A. Monsoor threw himself onto a grenade to save his friends' lives. The grenade was thrown by an "insurgent" into their sniper hideout. There are no words to truly describe or honor such a person. Calling him a hero just doesn't seem to do him justice.

Original story from the AP:

SEAL falls on grenade to save comrades

By THOMAS WATKINS, Associated Press WriterFri Oct 13, 3:02 PM ET
A Navy SEAL sacrificed his life to save his comrades by throwing himself on top of a grenade Iraqi insurgents tossed into their sniper hideout, fellow members of the elite force said.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor had been near the only door to the rooftop structure Sept. 29 when the grenade hit him in the chest and bounced to the floor, said four SEALs who spoke to The Associated Press this week on condition of anonymity because their work requires their identities to remain secret.

"He never took his eye off the grenade, his only movement was down toward it," said a 28-year-old lieutenant who sustained shrapnel wounds to both legs that day. "He undoubtedly saved mine and the other SEALs' lives, and we owe him."
Monsoor, a 25-year-old gunner, was killed in the explosion in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was only the second SEAL to die in Iraq since the war began.

Two SEALs next to Monsoor were injured; another who was 10 to 15 feet from the blast was unhurt. The four had been working with Iraqi soldiers providing sniper security while U.S. and Iraqi forces conducted missions in the area.
In an interview at the SEALs' West Coast headquarters in Coronado, four members of the special force remembered "Mikey" as a loyal friend and a quiet, dedicated professional.
"He was just a fun-loving guy," said a 26-year-old petty officer 2nd class who went through the grueling 29-week SEAL training with Monsoor. "Always got something funny to say, always got a little mischievous look on his face."

Other SEALS described the Garden Grove, Calif., native as a modest and humble man who drew strength from his family and his faith. His father and brother are former Marines, said a 31-year-old petty officer 2nd class.
Prior to his death, Monsoor had already demonstrated courage under fire. He has been posthumously awarded the Silver Star for his actions May 9 in Ramadi, when he and another SEAL pulled a team member shot in the leg to safety while bullets pinged off the ground around them.

Monsoor's funeral was held Thursday at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego. He has also been submitted for an award for his actions the day he died.
The first Navy SEAL to die in Iraq was Petty Officer 2nd Class Marc A. Lee, 28, who was killed Aug. 2 in a firefight while on patrol against insurgents in Ramadi. Navy spokesman Lt. Taylor Clark said the low number of deaths among SEALs in Iraq is a testament to their training.
Sixteen SEALs have been killed in Afghanistan. Eleven of them died in June 2005 when a helicopter was shot down near the Pakistan border while ferrying reinforcements for troops pursuing al-Qaida militants.

There are about 2,300 of the elite fighters, based in Coronado and Little Creek, Va.
The Navy is trying to boost that number by 500 — a challenge considering more than 75 percent of candidates drop out of training, notorious for "Hell Week," a five-day stint of continual drills by the ocean broken by only four hours sleep total. Monsoor made it through training on his second attempt.

Harry Reid busted; Hypocrite extraordinaire
BY GREGOR

Harry Reid – the Democratic minority leader who has repeatedly harped on the GOP leadership for creating the “culture of corruption” – may have just sealed the fate of his own party. Reid had already been listed at the top of the Jack Abramoff scandal but for the most part had received the standard “liberal free pass.” Reid held almost daily press conferences ripping Carl Rove and others for taking money in the scandal, while ignoring the fact that he himself was one of the worst offenders. But this will be harder to overlook:

Via the Associated Press:

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid collected a $1.1 million windfall on a Las Vegas land sale even though he hadn't personally owned the property for three years, property deeds show.

In the process, Reid did not disclose to Congress an earlier sale in which he transferred his land to a company created by a friend and took a financial stake in that company, according to records and interviews.

The Nevada Democrat's deal was engineered by Jay Brown, a longtime friend and former casino lawyer whose name surfaced in a major political bribery trial this summer and in other prior organized crime investigations. He's never been charged with wrongdoing _ except for a 1981 federal securities complaint that was settled out of court.

Here’s the best part of this story:

Reid hung up the phone when questioned about the deal during an AP interview last week.

As I continually point out … liberals are like little 9 year olds.

If the Republicans don’t hit this hard – they’re even more passive then I suspected. This is a perfect opportunity to nail one of the Democratic leaders and advertise the liberals for the hypocrites that they are. Will he step down? Will other Democrats ask him to step down?

Every time any liberal breaths a single word about Hastert … there ought to be an immediate Republican press conference pointing out the hypocrisy.

Step down Harry! Or take your party down with you.

Pacifist drill sergeants? Wasn't Bush supposed to make the military tougher?
BY GREGOR

Via the Associated Press:

Hollywood may have to tone down its portrayal of the military's screaming, in-your-face boot camp drill sergeant. In today's Army, shouting is out and a calmer approach to molding young minds is in, says the head of Pentagon personnel. The Army says it has reduced by nearly 7 percent the number of recruits who wash out in the first six to 12 months of military life.

Let's correct something here. The idea behind having screaming radical drill sergeants was not to "get people through boot camp." It was to weed out the recruits that were weak, to prevent them from being KILLED IN COMBAT!

But trainers found today's generation responded better to instructors who took "a more counseling" type role, Jones said, using strong tactics when needed but keeping them the exception instead of the rule.

The approach has had two positive results, he said: It has lowered attrition among those who go through training each year and has eased one of the greatest fears of recruits - their fear over whether they can make it through basic training.

So today's military leaders feel the greatest fear of recruits is - "their fear over whether they can make it through basic training?" Errr ... I beg to differ. The greatest fear of recruits in today's military is ... fear of being KILLED IN COMBAT!

The entire design of military preparation used to be to actually prepare our troops to be tougher than the enemy. The job of the military drill sergeant was to prepare young fighters for brutal, bloody, merciless combat against bloodthirsty enemies.

Apparently, now their job is to make sure they don't hurt anyone's feelings.

I'm sorry, but this is just so unbelievable I don't even know where to go with it. For those who have served ... I know you understand. For those who have not ... let me try to make sense of it. Do you have any idea how un-likely it is that an 18 year old kid who has to be coddled to get through boot camp will survive when suddenly caught in an ambush of Islamic insurgents, all the while knowing any slip-up could mean having his/her head cut off by a butcher knife? If that 18 year old recruit would curl up in a ball and start crying simply because a drill sergeant is yelling in his/her face ... how is it possible the same kid will suddenly transform into a warrior in the face of death?

THIS is the reason we have Lt. Ehren Watada. This is why over 5500 soldiers deserted in the first three years of the war, many fleeing to Canada. This is why we had Spc. Lynndie England acting like a 16 year old FREAK!

These incidents are directly related to the fact we're sending kids into battle who are not trained properly by the people who are responsible for preparing them for war.

The pacification of the conservative party is all but complete. I know this was going on back when Clinton was in office, but that was expected. What's surprising is that it's apparently being continued throughout the Bush administration during a time of war.

David S. Chu, undersecretary for personnel and readiness, says ...

"However much it may be satisfying from the shouter's perspective, it really isn't the best way to shape young people for the future."

That may be true ... if you were preparing them for a future in REAL ESTATE!

Racist Croatia fans form swastika during soccer game
BY GREGOR

As reported at the UK Sun:

CROATIA could be kicked out of Euro 2008 if fans abuse England’s black players tomorrow.

Soccer chiefs fear trouble after 200 of their supporters formed a human swastika at a friendly in Italy.

UEFA’s William Gaillard warned: “We won’t tolerate racism. We have had many problems with this in Eastern Europe before and Croatia have been among the worst offenders.

“But we are determined this will not happen again and will send out a strong message to stop any incidents during the game against England.

“FIFA have recently introduced new rules which can, in extreme cases, lead to a team being docked points or even being excluded from the competition.

I'm happy to see someone has a spine. I wonder if the ACLU would be defending these losers if it were in the U.S.

North Korea goes nuclear?
BY GREGOR

All the major news outlets are reporting. No need for me to go into detail here. I'll just play link master. For info, go here, here, and maybe ... here.

So ... what would Kerry, Murtha, Pelosi, Gore, and Monique Dols do?

Monique Dols? Sorry. Just had to throw in the arrogant and obnoxious socialist American hater who helped organize the latest attack on the Minutemen.

How long until the first liberal accusation that it's Bush's fault?

Mail for convicted terrorists left unread
BY STEVE

According to a justice department review, not all of the mail sent to convicted terrorists in prison is being screened by authorities as required by law. Doesn't that make you feel safe? According to the review at least 10 federal prisons are not compliant with regard to screening mail.

Knowing that our prisons have become a breeding ground for Islamists, how do we know that orders aren't being passed down by leaders on the outside for any new converts willing to wage Jihad against the government which imprisoned them once they are set free? Very, very disturbing.

More love mail from the Jew hating MySpace members
BY GREGOR

One of our readers forwarded me a lovely email she received today. This from a MySpace user who simply didn't like the fact that she was Jewish.

But there's much more to this than simple Jew hating. There's been a lot of talk lately of evidence that terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah are aligning themselves with street gangs in the U.S. THIS guy happens to have the fact that he's a member of the Bloods advertised all over his site. Could this be a sign of things to come? The Bloods now hate Israel? Why? Do they even pay attention to the news? Do they even know where Israel is?

Check out this loser's profile. MySpace user 78899112:

And here are some of his friends. See if you can pick out a common theme.

So once again, you have to wonder what goes on in the corporate offices of MySpace. You have to wonder why they continue to delete accounts of those who point this type of behavior out, while ignoring profiles such as this. They don't allow nude photos, but they allow Hezbollah, Hamas, the Bloods, and the Crips to post propaganda encouraging MURDER! Creepy.

One final thought. Do any of these wastes of human flesh have parents? Where are they?

Beautiful!!!
BY GREGOR

Doesn't get any better than this, as Michelle Malkin reports:

Here come the riots.

Editor's note:
Elizabeth White; Associated Press liberal hack?
BY GREGOR

What media bias? It doesn't matter how obvious the evidence might be; the media will deny to the death that there's anything to the charges of liberal media bias. Even when pointing out that liberal journalists outnumber conservatives by a 25-1 ratio, that point will usually draw a quick shrug and an angry denial.

So I find this article early this morning only a day after the Senate voted to approve the 700 miles of border fence. The headline of the article?

"Farms facing worker shortage for harvest."

Oh brother. You've got to be kidding me! This so called non-biased journalist doesn't even make much of an attempt to hide her agenda. You tell me? Was Elizabeth for or against the border fence?

As her Associated Press article reports:

J. Allen Carnes needed 200 workers for the onion harvest this year on 500 acres of South Texas fields. The onion business is big in the area, and with only two months to harvest, there's little room for delay.

But Carnes ended up with less than 100 workers and fell two weeks behind, with bits and pieces of the fields unpicked. His income fell about $150,000, a significant loss.

Growers say tightened border security and longer lines for day crossers have cut the numbers of farm workers who cross the border legally or illegally. Illegal immigrant workers who used to travel the country picking different crops as the seasons changed are hesitant to migrate for fear of being caught. And the lure of higher paid jobs with better working conditions, such as construction, are keeping some farm workers away.

Hey, but see? If you caught that last line ... things are looking up for the poor illegals. They are moving up to the construction jobs!

This could not be so ridiculously obvious and simply be a one time occurrence and an innocent coincidence of timing, so I plopped this woman's name into a search. Wasn't too surprising.

First to pop up was her hit piece on the the judicial system, seemly believing we need to stop punishing criminals. She writes:

The racial makeup of inmates changed little in recent years, Beck said. In the 25 to 29 age group, an estimated 11.9 percent of black men were in prison or jails, compared with 3.9 percent of Hispanic males and 1.7 percent of white males.

Marc Mauer, executive director of The Sentencing Project, which supports alternatives to prison, said incarceration rates for blacks were troubling.
"It's not a sign of a healthy community when we've come to use incarceration at such rates," he said.

Pathetic! How about an article about the alarming CRIME rate, instead of suggesting they are VICTIMS?

Next on the list is a wonderful non-biased piece about a group of protesters who were arrested by Capital Police for purposely blocking the entrance to the congressional office building. What's telling about THIS article is that although the story is about the arrest, in the middle of the article, she actually puts the following paragraph in BOLD TYPE:

"These are political choices being made that are hurting low-income people," said Jim Wallis, the event's organizer and founder of the Christian ministry group Sojourners. "Don't make them the brunt of your deficit reduction and fiscal responsibility."

Since when do Associated Press articles have single paragraphs emphasized in bold? How did the Associated Press editor not catch this? Oh I forgot! The Associated Press editor is also a liberal HACK!

She then adds this, once again in BOLD:

Wallis refused to consider the vigil a partisan affair, saying the religious and political spectrum was widely represented. "The media seems to think only abortion and gay marriage are religious issues," Wallis said. "Poverty is a moral issue, it's a faith issue, it's a religious issue."

Guilty conscience?

But as if that's not enough, yet another agenda driven article:

Telecommunications giant Qwest refused to provide the government with access to telephone records of its 15 million customers after deciding the request violated privacy law, a lawyer for a former company executive said Friday. For a second day, the former National Security Agency director defended the spy agency's activities.

As I'm finishing this story I'm sure Elizabeth is up late, working on her take of the Mark Foley emails. Anyone care to guess if shell be phrasing her story toward accusing Republicans of burying the incident? Does anyone think it will matter to her that they notified the authorities at the time, or that the kid's parents said they did not want them to push it? Naw! To powerful of an opportunity to pass up. Look for it in this morning's papers.
